3 Things on a Saturday Night With Regina Buttner

We’re back with another Saturday night post! This time it’s with Regina Buttner, author of the book Down a Bad Road. I’ll be sharing more about her book at the end of the post, but first, we’ll be reading her recommendations for your Saturday night.

Take it away Regina!

Book Recommendation:

Saturday night should be all about silly fun, so let’s dive into Helen Fielding’s brash and brilliant Bridget Jones’s Diary. Blundering Bridget meets smokin’ hot-but-aloof-barrister Mark Darcy at the annual New Year’s buffet, where she repeatedly puts her foot in her mouth, then slinks home in mortification, thoroughly convinced she’s a love pariah. After a year of romantic disasters, her prospects finally take a surprising upturn when she hosts a dinner party for her friends, and somehow manages to cook up a kettle of noxious BLUE soup. Bridget’s diary entries are clever, droll, and satisfyingly juicy!

Movie Recommendation:

No contest here—it’s gotta be The Blues Brothers! After Jake and Elwood pay a visit to a levitating nun, the miscreant duo puts their former R&B band back together to fulfill a mission from God. From the Joliet Prison, to a street party outside Ray’s Music Exchange, to an impromptu gig at a country & western roadhouse, the Blues Brothers wreak havoc across the state of Illinois, with the action peaking as hundreds of law enforcement officers converge on Chicago’s City Hall. Jailhouse rock at its best!

Wild Card Recommendation:

DANCE PARTY! When my kids were little, we’d often spend our Saturday nights pretending our house was a dance club, and had a great time creating home videos for our favorite songs. The staircase was the stage, flashlights provided special lighting effects, and our golden retriever Juliet was always willing to be dressed up for a guest appearance. The King of Pop himself would’ve been envious of our talent! I’ve still got those video clips stashed away in the vault, ready for an exclusive viewing with my future grandchildren.

What fantastic recommendations! Thank you Regina!

About the book, Down a Bad Road

Longtime bachelor Ron Burley has a rule against messing around with married women in his rural upstate New York town, but sassy, lovely Lavender has convinced him to break it. Their steamy affair sets someone off, but it isn’t Lavender’s clueless husband-it’s Marta, Burley’s clingy childhood friend and ex-lover.

Marta knows Burley is on the verge of going broke, so she secretly tries to lure him with a lucrative job offer and some enticing fringe benefits. Although he’s sorely tempted, Burley’s afraid to trust Marta due to the sketchy circumstances surrounding their bitter breakup years ago; but this might be his only chance to get back at her for what she did.

Suspicious of her boyfriend’s romantic history, Lavender visits a psychic for a tarot card reading in a creepy cabin in the Adirondack woods. Watch your back, the psychic warns her. Burley and Marta aren’t the innocent people they’re pretending to be. Someone’s out for revenge, and this love triangle could turn deadly.
