3 Things on a Saturday Night With Jennifer Brown Banks

We’re back for another Saturday night! I’m happy to have author Jennifer Brown Banks as this week’s guest. She just came out with her latest poetry collection, Cooking Lessons – And Other Poems to Feed the Soul. I’ll share more about that book in a bit, but first we have Jennifer’s suggestions for your Saturday night!

Take it away Jennifer!

Movie Recommendation: Emily The Criminal

With slim pickings available at my local Redbox, I reluctantly purchased this movie with little options and low expectations.

I don’t usually view or “do” violent flicks. Here’s why. I figure that if I want a front row seat to killing and chaos, I can watch that on the evening news for free.

Anyhow, I digress here…

Since watching movies is one of my favorite (guilt free) ways to unwind after a busy week, I bought it, brought it home, and crossed my fingers.

I’m so glad I took a chance. And you will too.

Emily the Criminal tells the story of a desperate, in debt, former art student, that makes some bad choices for the right reasons. It’s a cautionary tale.

This award-winning movie is clever, well-crafted, intriguing, sexy, and suspense filled. The performances are top-notch. It would be a “crime” not to check it out.

Book Recommendation: Chicken Soup for the Soul

Let’s face it. We are living during challenging times. Political upheaval; an uncertain economy; a pandemic that continues to hold us in its clutches. Need I offer more?

All the more reason to curl up to a read that’s comforting and filled with hope and life lessons. Choose from an array of themes and volumes in this popular series. Perhaps you’ll even be motivated to submit your own story upon reading others.

Wild Card Recommendation

Besides watching movies, I like to relax by cooking. And rumor has it that I’m pretty good. I enjoy expanding my culinary horizons by trying some of the online offerings and varied recipes at PinchandSwirl.com. Food fact: studies show that home cooking is comparatively healthier than dining out at restaurants.

Glass of wine optional.

Thank you Jennifer!
