A 21-Day Devotional When You Need to Press the Reset Button

Have you ever been in a spot where you desperately needed to get back on the right path and get your heart in the right direction? I have been in that spot quite a bit lately, especially as I try and see ahead in the future. So, I was happy to pick up Karen Brown Tyson’s newest book: Time to Reset.

First, here’s a bit about her book:

Has your life been interrupted? Do you want to know how to move forward? It’s time to stop running in circles. When we experience setbacks and disappointments in life, God is ready to not only offer refuge but is prepared to provide redirection.

In Time to Reset: A 21-Day Devotional to Renew Your Mind After Being Sidelined, Disappointed or Knocked Off Course, Karen Brown Tyson helps us:

  • learn how to surrender to God’s plan,
  • become the best version of ourselves, God created us to be; and
  • refresh our faith.

How can we get our lives back on track and find time to connect with God? This 21-day devotional will show you how to reset your mindset to move forward with renewed strength.

This book is now available for purchase on Amazon, Thrift Books, and Barnes and Noble. You can also add this to your GoodReads reading list.

My Review of Time to Reset

First, a confession: I didn’t read this one section a day like I should have; instead, I read a few in a day. The reason is I loved Karen’s wisdom shared throughout the book. Not only does she point to God’s word, but she also describes her own struggles.

What I loved about this devotional is she encourages you to take a closer look at your own heart. She asks that we consider our walk with God and if we’re really in the right place with him.

On Day 5, she talks about being in a cave situation. Basically, that means you are in a spot where you have no idea how to get out of it. I’m sort of in that spot that now. David was often in cave situations – for him, quite literally – because of trying to escape people trying to kill him. He talked to God about where he was at, and expressed how he was feeling yet still praising God.

As I think of what feels like a cave situation for me, I am at the point where I must give it to God. For someone like me, it’s hard to get to the point where I need to admit that a situation is beyond my control. I like feeling like I can do something to help things along.

So, I wait now. Waiting for God to move in my life and help me out of my own cave situation.

Another confession, I haven’t quite finished Karen’s book yet. I want to, and I will. I am an epically slow reader lately, and the latest section I read made me think, which has slowed me down some.

Whether you are a new Christian, or a well seasoned Christian, or one simply curious of the Christian walk, I encourage you to pick up Karen’s book Time to Reset. Pray, confess to God where you are at in your life and in your faith, and take that step towards pressing the reset button. Karen’s honesty, gentle guidance, and knowledge of God is so helpful and done with such a loving, Christ-centered heart.

Don’t forget that this book is now available for purchase on Amazon, Thrift Books, and Barnes and Noble. You can also add this to your GoodReads reading list.
