Why I Switched from Blogger to WordPress

In case you haven’t noticed, I bought my blog domain! WorldofMyImagination.com and all of its issues are officially mine. I was excited for this change and very ready to embrace the realness of owning my own piece of digital real estate.

And I also changed platforms. I went from Blogger to WordPress.org which was a huge endeavor. I’ve been wanting to make this change for a while too. Of course, after I purchased my domain, what came with it was the hassle of importing nearly 10 years worth of posts. The usual way didn’t work for me and so I had to work with a plugin. I didn’t import the posts with the Gutenberg editor activated so now I have a ton of posts in a really weird format. So, there’s work to be done.

Aside from the issues, I was also eager to go transfer away from Blogger. First, if you have a blogger blog, you probably can see they changed the format and layout of the platform. It’s so unbelievably annoying. Also, thanks to my other blog LadyUnemployed.com, I have gotten to like the WordPress platform. There’s also more of a community with WordPress than Blogger, or so it seems.

If you are wanting to start a blog and wonder whether Blogger or WordPress are better, I’d say choose WordPress. Blogger does have its benefits, but consider this: WordPress does way more for its own platform than Google does for Blogger. I’m also a little wary with how casual Google can be about removing it’s products. I would say though, buy your own domain and go through a hosting site. That’s your best option.

So, here we are folks. I hope you enjoy my new space!
