Rhine Research Center – The Study of Parapsychology

In another part of the A to Z Challenge, with the letter K, I brought to you the Koestler Parapsychology Unit and now I am bringing you a place with a similar focus:

Rhine Education Center in Durham, North Carolina.

Their mission statement says that they explore “the frontiers of consciousness and exceptional human experiences in the context of unusual and unexplained phenomena. [Their mission] is to advance the science of parapsychology, to provide education and resources for the public and to foster a community for individuals with personal and professional interest in PSI.”

I explored their website for a good part of an hour and was fascinated by the information and opportunities on their website for learning more about the paranormal or “exceptional human experiences.” One particular interesting part of their site was the “experience of the month” and this month they talk about psychic messages coming into dreams.

And for your creepy enjoyment, I finally found this movie I was trying to think of entitled, “Rose Red” about a parapsychologist who brings six psychics to this haunted house in order to explore the house’s psychic powers.

Here’s music from the film to inspire you!

  1. Oh, cool! I've never heard of this place. It's right up my alley, though. The book I'm writing right now is a travel guide to haunted places in north Texas. šŸ˜€
