Today’s Insecure Writer’s Support Group post really didn’t apply to me. It asked about book cover design, and since I’m not an author, I don’t have any insights about that. However, I think the fun thing about being an indie author is you get a say in the design. From what I’ve heard from those traditionally published, you don’t get that kind of opportunity (unless that has changed?).
Anyway, we’re onto another month! By the time I’ve written this post, I’m hoping that I have finished at least one short story. That was my goal for January. As a short story writer, though, I’m beginning to reflect on the big picture of my publishing path. I’ve contemplated creating a series of connected stories based on a particular story I’m trying to get published now.
For February, I think my goal is to get back into revision again. This is another part of the writing process I’ve neglected lately. It’s a different type of writing and one that has me looking at the details of a story while keeping the big picture in mind. It isn’t easy and it can be, at least for me, quite a lengthy process.
This year my goal is to get back into the swing of writing again. And the full cycle of writing. So, I may waver between writing new drafts and rewriting and revising existing drafts.
How is your year going so far?
I can never settle on one thing. When I’m writing something, I want to write something else. And editing is hard!
Good luck on your story!

Absolutely! It’s so hard to figure out where to start.
I hope you finished your short story. I’m working on revising the manuscript I just finished. It’s going well.
Good luck to you!
Work has me swamped, but in a good way.
I completely 100% agree.
Revision is one of the more daunting tasks a writer faces. But it can also be one of the most rewarding. I hope you find that pleasure as you start yours. And I also agree that designing one’s cover sounds like one of the cooler parts of being an indie author
Thank you! I am hoping to really start soon. And yes, I’d LOVE that aspect of being an indie author.
