I figured it was time for an update! It’s been a very long time since I had a regular blog post, and since we’re turning the corner on a new year, I thought I’d write a blog post.
To start, some good news! I have a new job. I started at the end of November, and I’m doing content marketing (lots of blog posts, web content, etc). It actually has been using a lot of the skills I developed with my side hustles, and I thank the Lord for giving me this opportunity. It was only because of Him that I kept up with any of these writing jobs I had held over the years.
In terms of everything else…it’s going…well, it’s just going. I’m thankful for another day, another year to look forward to, and I’m hopeful. At least, I’m trying to be.
Writing-wise, I don’t think I did my best this year. I’ve been sidetracked, and not all that motivated, but that’s been on me really. I do have some new writing goals I’m committing to, and I’d like to try writing every day (or almost every day). I have done well with some revisions though, and I’m really hopeful about a few stories of mine I plan on submitting.
As I write and feel pulled towards writing more, I find that I’m finding more about my writing style. You know, that way a writer has of telling a story that is unique to them. Recently as I contemplated a story that hasn’t been working right for me, I realized that I hadn’t used the same technique that I had used with two prior stories that resonated so well. I’ve submitted this particular piece for feedback through a literary magazine so we’ll see how it goes, but I may try my personal technique and see how it transforms it.
Reading wise I’m back at it again, and I’ve subscribed to Kindle Unlimited. I just recently finished Babbling Brook Naked Book Club and it’s such a charming series. I’m already on book two! On another book note, I also got listed as one of the top 100 book blogs on FeedSpot!
Anyways, I’m hopeful about the year ahead, and really want to hang onto that hope.
Congratulations on the job, and happy New Year to you.
Thanks!
Congrats on the new job and grabbing a spot on the top 100 book blogs on FeedSpot! It is a great deal. I am getting back to blogging after a long break and hoping it sticks!
Thank you so much!!
