The Insecure Writer’s Support Group had fascinating question this month I couldn’t help but answer. They wanted our answers to this question:
The topic of AI writing has been heavily debated across the world. According to various sources, generative AI will assist writers, not replace them. What are your thoughts?
My short answer is generative AI will not replace writers. Why? AI writing is not very good. And when you look up articles about how to use the technology, it’s so extensive. And to me, it’s not worth it.
Add on to that, all the trouble AI technology is getting into for using other writer’s work for their training. And I hope those writers filing that lawsuit win.
So, moving beyond that, things have been sort of eh for me lately. I had a publication but when I got the print copy, there was a printing error on my story. So, I don’t even want to share it. And they haven’t fixed it nor replied to my email about the error.
Oh well. I’m looking ahead to the new year and hoping that things start to turn in a new direction for me. It’s been a busy and stressful year, to say the least.
I have started a new newsletter over at Substack. I used to do weekly “Three Things on a Saturday Night” on here, and I moved it over to Substack just to give the weekly feature a bit more attention. So, if you are curious, I’d love a follow! I include a book, movie, and wildcard recommendation.
What do you think? Will AI replace writers?
I agree with you that AI will not replace us. Like you said, it doesn’t write well enough for that.
Absolutely!
I’ve tested AI and the writing sounds like English is its second language. And it doesn’t “understand” nuance either. It won’t replace us, though it needs regulation to protect copyright.

Yup! I totally agree.
Sorry about the error! That sucks.
No, it won’t replace writers, and it needs to be tightly regulated.
