I’m back with a book spotlight today! This one seems very appropriate for the times we’ve all been living through. I’ll be featuring an excerpt of The Plaque by Julie Anderson, and also giving away an e-book of this book as well. First, here’s a bit about the book:
Power is a contagion as strong as any disease – and it can kill.
Work on a London tube line is halted by the discovery of an ancient plague pit and in it, a very recent corpse. A day later another body is found, also in a plague pit. This victim is linked to the Palace of Westminster, where rumours swirl around the Prime Minister and his rivals.
As the number of deaths climbs, the media stokes fear. Government assurances are disbelieved. Everyone feels threatened. This has to be resolved and fast.
A disgraced civil servant and a policeman must find the answer before Westminster closes for recess. Power, money and love curdle into a deadly brew that could bring down the Mother of Parliaments.
Time is running out. And it’s not clear what – or who – will survive.
Now, for an excerpt for you to enjoy!

Sounds fascinating. Intriguing cover.
Thank you! The designer at Claret Press, Petya Tsankova, worked on the whole series ( as you can see when you look at the other covers too ).
I like the excerpt!
Thank you.
The cover intrigues me.
As I remarked to someone else who commented, Petya, the Claret Press designer worked on it for quite a while before she arrived at this one. She did the covers for the whole series.
The title alone catches my eye.
Yes. The book was written before the pandemic, and I discussed with my publisher whether or not to change it, but we decided to stick with it.
Fascinating and interesting. Looking forward to a new read. Thanks.
The name itself .
Yep. The book was written pre-COVID and it isn’t a pandemic novel, but we did have qualms about it at the time of publication!
The title did it!
I hope it will out-last the pandemic!
The statement; ‘ Power is a Deadly Contagion’ Got my attention. Must read!
