It’s so funny. Just a few weeks ago, I was talking with another blogger (okay, technically, I was leaving a comment on their blog and they replied to my comment, but you get the idea). And I mentioned to this blogger that it would be such a good idea for there to be a way for people inside of a store to be able to have the shopping experience of books, but be able to download the book onto their e-reader, no matter what the platform. I explained the book could be on a card of some kind so that people can take a look at what they were about to read and then purchase it with the store. That way the store still benefits from having e-readers and it also finds a way for their to be e-books in the store.’
It’s as if a wish has been granted! (Now if only all facets of my life can work out that easy)
Anyways, I received an opportunity to experience just what I wished for with a company called Livrada. They are partnered exclusively with Target at the moment and what you get when you purchase an e-book card is exactly what you think it is:
It took me less than a minute to redeem the e-book on their site and I really am looking forward to reading this book.
Really? There are no negatives about this experience. This is a way to merge the e-book/e-reader experience to the real life shopper. This is perfect for those of us (such as myself) who kind of, really do, and can’t help it, judge a book by it’s cover. It still is NOT the same for me to search out for books for my Kindle app online as it is to browse a bookstore. And this fixes it.
What I would like to see?
I would love to see this expand to self-published authors. I would love for them to use this opportunity to expand their market and include self-published/independent authors into the mix. Of course, with certain expectations, maybe a certain number of ratings and reviews online, or something like that. But this would be an incredible opportunity for them and for self published writers and for readers who haven’t been exposed to the self-published book market (which is expanding and does have more than a few gems out there), to join together for a long lasting and beautiful relationship.
I am so excited about this opportunity! Next time you are in Target, go by the electronic section and check out these e-book gift cards. You will be pleasantly surprised, I guarantee it.

Hmm? That is very cool. Thanks for the tip, Nicole. We're always in Target. *laughs* I'm surprised we haven't seen them already!
