I’m back with another edition of my “In the Spotlight” series. Today, I’m interviewing podcast host Denise Griffitts. On her podcast, Your Partner in Success™, she interviews guests, as she perfectly puts it, who are also mentors. She interviews to learn and share their profound wisdom with her audience.
I’m so excited to chat with her about her and her podcast. Everyone, let’s welcome Denise!
Nicole: Welcome Denise! How did you come by your podcast name, “Your Partner in Success™ Radio”?
Denise: I’ve always believed business should be collaborative, not competitive. I wanted my show to feel like a trusted resource, not just another broadcast. Your Partner In Success™ came from that philosophy — that I’d be a partner, advocate, and connector for my audience. Even though the podcast itself began quite by accident, the name captured exactly how I wanted to show up for the people who tune in.
Nicole: I love that you describe that business should be collaborative. Why did you decide to start your podcast?
Denise: Truth is, it was a complete accident. I’d never even heard of podcasting until a journalist asked to interview me. We recorded on the spot, and a few days later she sent me a link. I was expecting to see an article — so imagine my complete shock when I heard my own voice (which I hate, by the way… don’t we all?). When I called her and asked, “What the heck was THAT?” she introduced me to podcasting. I was a podcaster the very next day!
Nicole: What a moment! And I completely agree. I hate hearing my own voice. What have you learned about yourself (and/or others) through your podcast?
Denise: I’ve learned that I’m a lot more curious and resilient than I ever gave myself credit for. I’ve also discovered just how generous people can be with their stories and expertise when given a safe space to share. Humans are endlessly fascinating, and even the most “ordinary” entrepreneur often has an extraordinary backstory.

Nicole: They really do. How has your podcast evolved since you first started?
Denise: Seventeen-plus years is a long time in podcasting. When I started, there weren’t platforms, networks, or even a playbook for what I was doing. My show has become more refined, more conversational, and more strategic in who I bring on — but it’s never lost that heart of genuine curiosity. It’s also evolved into a platform that attracts authors, innovators, and thought-provokers from all over the globe.
Nicole: You were an early starter! What’s been the biggest surprise or challenge you’ve experienced while podcasting?
Denise: The biggest surprise is how intimate audio is — guests and listeners will email me and reference conversations from a decade ago as if they were just last week. The biggest challenge is how much behind-the-scenes work it takes. It’s not just hitting record. It’s research, prep, post-production, promotion, and relationship building. It’s a serious commitment.
Nicole: I can only imagine. My own work with blogging can be work, so I can only imagine how it feels with podcasting. What has been your most memorable episode(s) and why?
Denise: That’s nearly impossible to answer — so many have stuck with me. But the conversations that get personal, that crack open a guest’s vulnerable side, are always the most memorable. I’ve had people share pivotal moments, heartbreaks, breakthroughs… It’s deeply moving and truly a privilege to hold space for that.
Nicole: That’s when an episode is really powerful. How do you prepare for each episode?
Denise: I dive into their work — their book, business, or body of ideas — but I never listen to other interviews they’ve done. I want every conversation to be completely fresh, with no preconceived narratives in my head. I come in curious, armed with a few guideposts, and let it unfold like a natural conversation. Guests are often surprised (and relieved) that I’m not just running down the same tired list of questions they always get.
Nicole: That’s a nice approach! If you could have a dream guest on your podcast, who would it be and what would you talk about?
Denise: Anyone, dead or alive? Then, hands down, I’d pick Nikola Tesla and Dr. Napoleon Hill. Can you imagine those conversations? I’d dive into creativity, ethics, obsession, how they each defined human potential, and what drove them to keep pushing boundaries. It would probably be equal parts fascinating, uncomfortable, and wildly enlightening — exactly my kind of discussion.
Nicole: Now those would be fantastic conversations. What major accomplishment or milestone have you been most proud of through your podcast?
Denise: The longevity, hands down. Being ranked in the top 1.5% of podcasts globally is certainly nice, but I’m most proud that I’ve stuck with it all these years and continue to grow an audience who trusts me. That consistency is rare in this space.
Over the years, I have also become well-known as a podcaster who LOVES to interview authors. I’m a voracious reader and have hundreds of books in my office. Every single book in here was gifted by my guests. I have read them, reviewed them, and am proud to say that many of these authors have become long-term friends, and in some cases, colleagues.
Nicole: It sounds like your podcast gives back to you as much as your guests. Thank you so much for taking the time to chat with me today.
Everyone, don’t miss Your Partner in Success™. It’s a fantastic show to watch if you want to get inspired, learn from the experts, and hear about someone else’s journey. Make sure you follow on Apple Podcasts, or wherever else you listen.
